allgarve example of good practice

The best surprise has been this article by  Simon Bainbridge, editor of the British Journal of Photography who visited us on sunday and points at us an example of good practice that the uk should follow!

Where there’s art, there brass
British Journal of Photography - London,England,UK
There is serious art here, including works by Bill Viola and James Turrell, alongside tightly curated group shows, such as Local Worlds in unspoilt Lagos, …

Despite all the evidence on our own doorstep - such as the new Tate buildings and the transformation of Shoreditch and Brick Lane - we’re still reluctant to make that connection here in the UK. In 2012, the Olympics provides an incomparable opportunity to make a statement to the world, and yet cutbacks in arts funding are being used to fund initiatives. Let’s hope there’s a change in this short term thinking, and that maybe photography - with its ability to speak to audiences normally intimidated by contemporary art - can play a part in celebrating what Britain stands for the 21st century.
