Presentation by LAC (Laboratory of Creative Activities) artists [july 28, 29 and 30 (monday to wednesday)
13h-24h, in the Centro Cultural de Lagos]
During three days it will be possible to watch a slideshow presentation of a selection of the works created by the resident artists at the Creative Arts Laboratory (LAC), in Lagos. This selection includes works by Aidan Brenmer, A. Pedro Correia, Daniela Lovric, Guillaume Lúcio, Jorge Pereira, Jorge Rocha, Ricardo Santos, Ricardo Valentim, Susana de Medeiros, Tiago Cutileiro, Raymond Dumas, Vera Gonçalves and Xana, among others, and shows a set of events that have been organized and promoted by LAC: Lacobriga Check Sound (a circuit of concerts in order to promote local bands), VídeoLab (a collaboration with the VídeoLab project from Coimbra, that brings to Lagos the best world works of video art), Bunny Weekend (a collaboration work with Thisco, which includes projects of electronic music and other urban type of activities, the promotion of local musicians that create urban type of music, and also the publishing of independent writings, or fanzines, a collaboration with Chilicomcarne), Oficina Pinhole (intervention that promotes the use of a Pinhole camera in photography through the setting of a public workshop) and LAC - Open Day (exhibition of LAC’s resident artists and bands, which has become one of the town’s cultural highlights).
LAC – Laboratory of Creative Activities – is a non-profit cultural association, created in 1995, based in Lagos and occupying the former prison building. Its main objective is to organise and promote the artistic production of Western Algarve, namely the work of artists living the region, promoting interdisciplinarity and the exchange of ideas and initiatives with international artists and cultural institutions. LAC offers eleven studios (cells), two multifunctional rooms, a documentation centre and an exhibition space, open to external proposals that are in accordance with the association’s aims. For the last eleven years, LAC has rented studio space, and organized concerts, shows, exhibitions, exchange programs, training and film projections, amongst other creative activities.
